Beware: Internet Explorer 7.0 Not Fully Supported By Some Current Screen
Readers
By Darrell Shandrow
Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 7.0 this morning, but you may not
want to jump on the banwagon yet. It is known to work well with Window-Eyes
5.5,
but is not fully supported by other current screen readers such as Freedom
Box System Access and JAWS 7.1. It will be necessary to await an upcoming
release
of an upgrade of these screen readers for Internet Explorer 7 support. In
some cases, full screen reader support for Internet Explorer 7 is going to
require
payment of an upgrade fee if the user does not hold an active Software
Maintenance Agreement with the vendor. Before downloading and installing
Internet
Explorer 7, please, do yourself a favor and ask your screen reader maker if
they fully support the latest version of this web browser before plunging
ahead.
Taking this prudent step may prevent a lot of unnecessary grief.

Be careful, I've heard that microsoft intends to release i.e. 7 through its automatic updates later this year, or early next year. So, if you use windows/xp and have live updates turned to automatic, you may wish to change the setting to download but do not install.
Thanks.
Bob
Thanks for this info.
Troy
I guess jaws 8 is coming out in november some time not sure of the date thought.
You mean t5here is clear acknowledgement here that windoweyes is capable of doing something first? wow! how can you jaws users cope with this/ it's official noone can question it.
I use IE 7 and have found no problems yet with it and JAWS. I actually like it.
BB
blind-bandit, you are braver than I am. I'm seeing all kinds of pleas on the jaws users' list for people who have downloaded ie7 and want to know how to get back to ie6.
Bob
When they announced the release of IE 7, I went to Freedom Scientific's site, and they had a rather cagy warning about downloading IE 7 and its use with JAWS. Ity was something like that JAWS May not fully support it. Being that I have a healthy degree of parnoia, I didn't want to take any chances.

thanks bob.
usefull information
I haven't had any problems with jaws not working with 7.
remember, he said jaws 7.1 didn't work with I E. lol, I use 7.1 and was thinking of upgrading to I E seven, so, thanks
I'm not telling anyone not to use ie7, I'm just passing on information as I get it. Here's what the freedomscientific support site says. Notice, they don't say use it or don't use it.

Product Name: JAWS
Version: 7.0
Category: Internet Explorer
Question:
Can I use the beta version of Internet Explorer 7 with JAWS?
Answer:
We do not discourage anyone from testing Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 preview, available from Microsoft for Windows XP, Service Pack 2. However, current Freedom
Scientific products are not optimized for Internet Explorer 7.
* JAWS 7.0 and earlier do not support Internet Explorer 7. Please install JAWS 7.10, available June 2006, for improved operability. More extensive support,
if needed, is targeted for a future release of JAWS.
* MAGic 9.50 and later are suitable for use while testing Internet Explorer 7. However, Internet Explorer 7 uses ClearType by default, which will not present
an optimal magnified image. It is recommended that you turn off ClearType on the Advanced tab in Internet Options.
* There are no recommended restrictions for testing with other Freedom Scientific products."
Thanks,
Bob
I am using jaws 7.1 and ie 7 and things are fine not havng issues i wasnt having before `
As I will continue to say, window eyes is better, and IE sucks. I tried it with JAWS 7.1, and it seems to work fine, but there are a lot of security holes. For instance, it's phishing tool isn't working like it should.
